Fairfax Station Real Estate
Fairfax Station homes are nestled among wooded suburbs and undulating hills. The atmosphere is rural and quiet, but the Capital Beltway is only 8 miles away and Washington is only about 20. As one travels about this little community, horses can be seen grazing in some properties or being ridden by the side of the road.
Fairfax Station real estate is almost entirely comprised of larger single-family homes built in the ‘80s and ‘90s. In most cases, the lots are wooded and range from ¼ acre to 8 acres. The majority of these homes are owner-occupied.
There is no present commercial development in the community. Most of the stores that Fairfax Station homeowners shop at are located in the nearby communities of Clifton and Burke. The Burke Center Shopping Center is one of the closest and has a grocery, businesses, shops and a variety of eateries.
Fairfax Station originally grew up around the Fairfax Station, a railway station constructed in the 1850s. When it closed in 1973, it was the last operating railroad station in Fairfax County. In 1975, several Fairfax Station homeowners spearheaded the restoration of the building, which now houses a museum and meeting room.
